Atlantic Challenge International is made up of crews from all over the world. To join Atlantic Challenge, member nations build or acquire their own boat. The Contest occurs every two years, where up to 16 nations gather for a week to showcase their maritime skills in the spirit of friendly competition.

In the years between the Contests, each nation uses the gigs for a variety of programs including weekly training, expeditions, and youth-specific programs, including working with people with special needs. The goal of Atlantic Challenge is always the same – teaching through the median of the sea.
